Description
HOW TO USE SHIKAKAI PODS FOR HAIR There are several ways to use Shikakai pods. Method 1 Soak 2 to 3 Shikakai pods in a bowl of water with 2 pieces of Amla and 3 Reetha pods. Allow the mixture to sit overnight. In the morning boil the mixture until the amount of liquid is reduced to ¼ of the original amount. Allow the liquid to cool then mash the pods and sieve the mixture through a fine muslin cloth. The solution is now ready to use. Wash you hair with the solution. It may not produce much lather as it is a mild cleanser. Shikakai will clean both your scalp and your hair. Shikakai controls dandruff while keeping hair healthy and strong. Method 2 Grind the shikakai pods. Seive the ground mixture to remove any unground pieces. The result is pure shikakai powder. Soak a teaspoon of this powder in water. Use this solution to wash your scalp and hair. Method 3 Place 5 pieces of Shikakai in the hair oil that you normally use. Leave the pods in the oil and the benefits of the Shikakai will absorb into the oil. Continue to use your hair oil as you normally would. I had been using shikakai and soap nut powder from a local Indian grocery store to wash my hair, and decided to try the whole version of both. I mix a few shikakai pods and a few soap nuts and soak them overnight in a cup of water. After soaking, I put all of this in a mini crockpot with the lid on and let it simmer for half an hour to an hour. Then I squeeze all the water out of these (after letting it cool a bit) and strain the liquid into a squeeze bottle. I then use this to wash my whole body and my hair. I really like the results.I should note that if you don't put any preservatives in it, you should refrigerate any leftovers, as you don't want bacterial or fungal growth in something you are going to apply to your skin. The above listed amounts are enough to wash me from head to toe one time.
