This is my second pair of Nike Air Pegasus 34 (after running through 3 pairs of Air Pegasus 33s last year). This has been my go-to running shoe for the last couple of years.I run 50-60 miles a week, most of those miles are on paved surfaces. I like these shoes because they are durable (I’ve had problems in the past with Asics wearing a hole in the toe box, never a problem for the Air Pegasus for me), they are cushiony enough, and they’ve helped improve my strides and I have had fewer running injuries since switching to the Air Pegasus (I also lost around 30 pounds at the time I switched up running shoes, so losing weight could also have helped lower my running injuries. Air Pegasus don’t prevent running injuries, but they do help me run with better form and that helps me have fewer injuries). The toe box is roomy enough for me (I may have a narrow foot), and I rarely have problems with blisters or toenail bruising with these shoes (I frequently go on 15-21 mile runs with these shoes, where sometimes that may be a problem). The cushioning is less cushioned then some other running shoes, but I think it helps me spring back and improved my efficiency – this probably isn’t true for everyone though.I find the tread wears out for me a lot faster than the inner shoe, and retired my old pair of 34s when the treads were worn at the heel and the mid-foot. The shoe is going to wear down eventually at some point, but usually the inner shoe gives up on me before the treads, but not with Air Pegasus. These shoes are quite affordable for a very good quality running shoe. Most running shoes are built to last 300-600 miles, and that means I go through shoes in about 3 months or a little less, so it’s good to have affordable running shoes that I don’t feel bad about having to replace at a pretty high rate. My first pair of Nike Air Pegasus 34s lasted about 3 months, so probably somewhere around 450-550 miles, which is pretty good. These shoes should last much longer for most people who are not running 50-60 miles a week, but I thought I'd be honest with how fast they wear out for me.I recommend these as a running shoe – I am training for a marathon and so far I’m very happy with the performance of these shoes. I actually “prefer” the Air Pegasus 33s, but as those are a lot harder to find these days, the 34s work for me. It took probably about 200 miles to get very comfortable running with the 34s compared to the 33s, but now the new shoes (that have around 100 mileson them now) are just as comfortable as my old 34s (and 33s) were. But, as a runner, I would like to mention that all runners are different, and a shoe that works well for me might not work well for someone else. We all have different shaped feet, different ways our feet hit the ground, different leg mechanics, weigh different amounts, run at different speeds, and all that means some people need more cushiony shoes, some people need shoes with a bigger toe box, some people might do better with a flatter shoe with the less heel lift.
