Here, There and Everywhere is not only a great memoir of adventure and travel the way it used to be, especially air travel, but it's a slice of how life itself was, not so long ago. Remember Technicolor and polyester? Disco and ABBA? Traveler's checks? TWA and BOAC? How about Harvey Wallbangers? It was a world not totally innocent, but one in which one could look at the mosques and mountains beyond the Tehran airport and view that country with a sense of mystique. Quite a contrast to today's headlines.Lindsey Jane Doley paints vivid pictures of the places she's been and the interesting people she's met during a career that took her around the world. Oftentimes humorous, but not always so, as in the tale of a thousand-foot altitude drop due to a lightning strike. For me the best part was how it brought back memories of my own travels during those years, sometimes in the same locations, as well as the sense of adventure it stirs within, enticing me to places I've yet to see.As Carly Simon tried to tell us way back then, "These are the good old days." And maybe they still are.
